Beginners’ Introduction to Firearms

  • Three Hours
  • Classroom only, no range work or live fire
  • No special equipment required
  • Suitable for everyone with little or no prior knowledge/experience with firearms (or for the many people who need to reset incorrect misperceptions on these subjects)
  • Fee :  $75

The Code Green Beginners’ Introduction to Firearms takes you carefully from the very first principles of firearms – what they are and how they work, giving you the practical and relevant information you need to become informed on this controversial topic and to decide if and how best to integrate firearms ownership into your life, your leisure, and your defensive strategy at home, at work, and generally everywhere.

We answer questions that are often asked, but rarely correctly answered such as ‘Is a shotgun better than a pistol or rifle for self defense’, ‘What is a good beginner gun’, ‘Should I choose a revolver or semi-auto pistol’, ‘What is best caliber of gun to choose’, and even touch a bit on topics such as ‘Which are the best makes and models of guns and which are ones I should leave well alone’.

We help you to understand what your rights are, how these rights can be altered with a concealed weapons permit, and touch on matters such as when it may be legal to use deadly force, and how to avoid ever needing to do so.

We even dare to comment briefly on whether guns should be banned, restricted, or open and free to all with no constraints at all.  Are there more or fewer guns in our society today?  Is that good or bad?  And are there more or fewer gun related accidents and killings?

How about the claim that a person with a gun is more at risk in an attack than an unarmed person?  How likely are you to end up being shot by your own gun?  We have some suggestions for you on these topics, too.

Should you shoot to kill or just shoot to wound?  The answer to this question (the answer is actually ‘neither of the above’ – it is a trick question but often asked and seldom answered correctly) is another topic we touch on, and we share the police perspective on firearms use too.

We are so certain this is a great learning experience that we guarantee you’ll complete this class with a much better appreciation and awareness of the complexity of issues related to firearm design, ownership and use than you had three hours earlier.  If you didn’t learn from the class, we’ll refund you your money.
